Batteries (and other accessories) Not Included

I love my wife. I really do. She looks after our dog, our house, and even me. Frankly I don’t know what I would do without her and of course I can’t thank her enough for putting up with me.

With all due praises now sung, I have to use this public space to ask her to stop buying me gifts. Wait...its not what you’re thinking. I love her gifts as they are always thoughtful and always make me happy. What irks me are the necessary “accessories” that I have to purchase upon unwrapping each one. Example: A few years back she gave me a great video game for my computer. I couldn’t wait to pop it in and take it for a spin. Oh wait, my video card wasn’t advanced enough to hammer out the graphics. Looks like I’m taking a trip down to Ye Olde CompUSA for a $50 video card (which I still have BTW).

And this scenario has repeated several times since then, including Bloggerman’s latest birthday. Mrs. Bloggerman gave me a fancy-dancy, electronic “toy”. It was exactly what I wanted and I’ve even used it during my commute the past few days. The challenge is that I need to add a protective case which (pending my e-bay bid) will run me a few dollars (less then the video card but still...) but if we focus on money, you are missing the point.

If these gifts all require effort on my part then I’m not so sure I want them. I am after all one lazy SOB (oooohhhh you said “SOB”...you’re in trouble!!!!). Sweetheart, next year lets just do flowers.

Kidding...I love your gifts and this entry is a joke...in case you were wondering.
